Lynx is a demi-human. He was Serge's father Wazuki, up until he came into contact with FATE, who turned him into a combination of the human version of herself and that which Serge feared most: the panther demon whose attack led to Serge's poisoning. Wazuki's corruption was gradual, but eventually he succumbed after abandoning his family, and finally became Lynx, hell-bent on (re?)locating Serge. Lynx eventually switches bodies with Serge so that he (ex-Wazuki) could gain access to FATE. ... what, again?

As previously mentioned, Lynx switches bodies with Serge halfway through the game, so... yeah.
