Sidenotes: Jack used to be the Captain of the Black Pearl (ship), until his mutinous first mate took over the ship, stole his crew, and left him for dead on a small, remote, uninhabited island waaaaaay off any shipping routes. Jack insists that he escaped the island by strapping two sea turtles to his feet, but in fact the island he was marooned on was used by rum runners to caché their illegal goods (alcohol had apparently been outlawed by the East India Trading Company, unless bought through their company). When the rum runners came back to the island, he bartered his way onto their ship and off the island to pursue Barbossa and reclaim his ship. This backstory now wins the award for The Most Usages of the Word "Ship" in a Description.

Recruitment: He joins after Will convinces him to take you all along on his stolen ship (there's that word again!).
