Sidenotes: In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Lexaeus learned of Marluxia's plans to use Sora to take over the Organization, and decided to slightly modify this plan, manipulating Riku instead. When Riku refused to cooperate, they fight, and Riku ends up unconscious. This allowed the darkness in his heart to take control of his body in the form of Ansem and defeat Lexaeus, killing him.
