Name: Hercules/Herakles
Class: Hero
Weapon: Superhuman strength, sword
Sidenotes: The Disney version of Hercules is very very different, yet very very similar to the version from Greek mythology. The original version
was born of a mortal woman and fathered by Zeus (ruler of the gods), which made Hera (Zeus' Olympian mate) hate him. The Disney version, however, was still fathered by Zeus,
but born from Hera (making him a full-blooded god instead of a demi-god like the original), and was prophecized by the Fates to one day prevent Hades (Lord
of the Underworld) from taking over the realms above the one he rules over. Hades sends his minions, Pain and Panic, to force baby Hercules to drink a potion
that will make him mortal, but there is a reason why the saying goes "If you want something done right, you'd better do it yourself." The bumbling duo do,
in fact, make Hercules mortal, but he keeps his superhuman strength. Baby Hercules ends up being raised by mortal parents, but one day his adoptive father
tells him that he was found with a symbol of the gods around his neck. Hercules went to a temple of Zeus to seek answers, and Zeus appears to him and tells
him that he must become a hero before he can join the other gods on Olympus. He then recieves training from Phil(octetes, a satyr (half-man, half-goat)),
and ends up (barely) saving a girl named Meg(ara) from a rowdy centaur (half-man, half-horse). She is in league with Hades against her will, having sold
her soul to him to save an ungrateful lover, and thus Hades finds out through her that Hercules is still alive and resumes his plots to kill the hero.
Hercules also has a flying horse named Pegasus (who, in Greek mythology, is associated with Perseus and Bellerophon, not Hercules). Hercules first showed
up in KH, challenging Sora and co. to become real heroes. In both KH and KH II, he is an opponent in the Coliseum.
